Diktafon records sounds to your hard drive and features a convenient built-in text editor.
Diktafon is useful for transcribing or dictation purposes. For instance, you want to send an audio letter to your mother, but you also want to keep a written record of it. Or perhaps you have recorded a conversation or TV program on tape, and you want to write down the dialogue. Diktafon is your answer!
In this all-in-one program, you can play, pause, rewind, and fast-forward the sound while typing into the built-in text editor, eliminating the need for separate sound- and text-editing applications. The text editor allows you to change the size and style of the text. It can save the text into the sound for later editing, and it has the ability to export the text for use in other applications.
How does it work?
Diktafon stores the sounds you record as standard AIFF sound files and places them into the folder called “Soundfiles” in the same folder as Diktafon. For proper operation, please make sure that you do not move this folder and do not change its name! Diktafon can record from a built-in microphone or from the sound-in microphone jack, so you can just talk to it, or you can record from some other audio source like a tape player, CD player, Victrola, or whatever.
After recording a sound, your Mac can dictate what you’ve recorded in the “Editor.” If you save the text, Diktafon adds a Styled Text Resource (styl) to the sound file. The AIFF sound file is still playable from other applications.
If you Export Text from the Editor, Diktafon saves the text as a SimpleText document that can be opened by most word processors.
